Pieris rapae

Naturalists are highlighting the Cabbage White butterfly (Pieris rapae), a species native to Eurasia and North Africa that has been introduced around the world. Its caterpillars feed mainly on plants in the mustard family, including garden vegetables such as cabbage, broccoli, kale, radish and cauliflower, making it a familiar and often unwelcome visitor to vegetable gardens. The butterfly is among the most widespread white butterflies globally.
