Prisons and Probation

The head of the probation officers' union has said it is not possible to electronically tag all prisoners being released early in England and Wales, raising concerns about how the Ministry of Justice scheme is being supervised. The government brought forward release dates to ease prison overcrowding, but union leaders say probation services lack the resources to monitor every offender released under the changes.
