In 1958, Vince DeDomenico transformed his family's rice pilaf recipe into Rice-A-Roni, the boxed rice side dish that became a household staple in the United States. Twenty-eight years later, in 1986, his family sold the company to Quaker Oats for $300 million, cementing the product's place in American food history.
