SDF Public Access Unix System

SDF, a public access Unix system founded in 1987, is drawing renewed attention online. The long-running service has offered free shell accounts to the public for nearly four decades, outlasting most early internet communities. Commenters are celebrating its longevity and the persistence of a non-commercial corner of the web, with some reminiscing about their own early accounts and others discovering it for the first time.
