SMARTEX

A study from the SMARTEX research project has found that marks left by experimental deep-sea mining on the seabed remain more than 40 years later, suggesting seafloor ecosystems recover far more slowly than hoped. The findings are being cited in ongoing debates over whether commercial mining of the deep ocean should be allowed to proceed.
