Saudi Civil Defense

Six people were injured when a Houthi attack struck southern Saudi Arabia, according to the country's civil defense authority. The strike is the latest in a series of cross-border attacks launched by Yemen's Houthi forces, which say they are acting in solidarity with Palestinians during the Gaza conflict. Saudi authorities said the wounded received medical treatment and are investigating the incident.

PBS reports on why Saudi Arabia's military has struggled to defend the country against attacks by Yemen's Houthi movement. Despite years of weapons purchases from the United States and other Western suppliers, and a costly intervention in Yemen's civil war, Saudi air defenses have repeatedly failed to stop missiles and drones reaching targets inside the kingdom, raising questions about the effectiveness of its forces.
