Sheriff Country

"Sheriff Country," the CBS spinoff of the drama "Fire Country," is drawing searches in the US. Discussion around the franchise comes as fans react to "Fire Country" receiving a shortened season; star Max Thieriot has said he views the shorter run differently from disappointed viewers. The spinoff expands the show's universe with a new county law enforcement focus.

Fulton County, Georgia, has launched a pilot program that pairs sheriff's deputies with mental health clinicians when responding to crisis calls. The initiative aims to divert people experiencing mental health emergencies away from jail and toward treatment and support services instead of arrest. It reflects a broader national push toward co-responder models of crisis intervention.
