Simchat Torah

Jewish tradition calls for celebratory dancing with the Torah scroll kept closed and wrapped, most notably on Simchat Torah. The closed scroll is treated as a sacred object not to be handled casually; the dancing honours the scroll itself rather than reading it. The practice is drawing curiosity from wider audiences asking about its meaning.
