Springfield Cardinals

Leadership of the Springfield Cardinals, the Double-A baseball club in Springfield, Missouri, says the team's natural grass playing surface can withstand hosting drive-in movie nights at the ballpark. The announcement suggests the stadium could open to film screenings with cars parked on the outfield, raising questions among fans about turf wear and how the club plans to protect the field during events.

The St. Louis Cardinals minor league update spotlights pitching prospect Liam Doyle, who took the mound for Double-A Springfield in a game against the Tulsa Drillers at Hammons Field in Missouri. Fans following the Cardinals' upper minor league levels are tracking Doyle's development as he climbs toward a potential big-league role.
