St. Daniel Comboni

The Catholic Church has elevated the feast celebrations of St. Josephine Bakhita and St. Daniel Comboni to the rank of solemnities in Sudan and South Sudan. The move gives the two saints' feast days greater liturgical prominence in both countries, where Comboni missionaries have historically played a major role. It is seen as a significant gesture for Catholic communities amid the region's ongoing difficulties.
