Sulphur herd

The US Bureau of Land Management has begun management actions aimed at protecting the Sulphur wild horse herd and the health of its rangeland, citing overpopulation as the driving concern. The agency says the measures are intended to keep herd numbers in balance with available forage and water. Wild horse management decisions by the BLM routinely draw attention from animal welfare advocates, ranchers and public lands groups, who often disagree over how population levels should be controlled.
