The MobilePay payment app will change its name to Vipps in Denmark and Finland in January, giving around 13 million users across the Nordic countries the same app name. The move follows the 2023 merger of Norwegian operator Vipps with Danske Bank's MobilePay, and users will see the new branding in the apps on Android and iOS as the companies unify their digital payment services under one Nordic name.

European payment providers Bancomat, Bizum, EPI Company/Wero, SIBS MB WAY and Vipps MobilePay have joined forces to create ENP, a new alliance aimed at competing with dominant US payment networks. Together the founding members serve around 130 million users across 13 European countries, covering more than 70% of the EU population, in a bid to strengthen Europe's payment sovereignty.
