Volotea

Volotea has cancelled flights from Asturias to destinations including Madrid, Málaga and Fuerteventura, disrupting travel plans. The cancellations are causing concern among customers and travel agencies in the region, according to local press coverage in La Nueva España. Passengers are reportedly seeking alternatives as the airline adjusts its routes from the Asturias airport.

Spanish airline Volotea, headquartered in Bilbao, has filed for pre-insolvency protection from creditors as it works to restructure its finances. The carrier is simultaneously cutting back its fleet and workforce, raising concerns about routes, jobs and connectivity for the airports it serves in Spain, France and Italy.
