Divers in the Gili Islands off Lombok, Indonesia are sharing footage and photos of a beautiful cuttlefish encountered on a scuba dive near Trawangan. The sighting is being shared among diving communities, including Singapore-based divers, highlighting the rich marine life of the area, a popular destination for PADI dive trips and underwater photography.

Researchers have produced the first genetically modified cuttlefish, a breakthrough that reportedly took six years of work and around 4,000 failed embryos before success. The achievement matters because cuttlefish eggs are notoriously difficult to manipulate, making cephalopods one of the last major animal groups without a working transgenic method. It could open new research into gene function, neural biology and evolution in these highly intelligent marine animals.
