kleptoparasitism

People are sharing the word 'kleptoparasitism', a term describing a feeding behavior in which one animal deliberately takes food from another, often through aggressive confrontation. Scientists consider it evolutionarily stable when stealing costs less energy than hunting prey directly. The behavior is documented in species such as seabirds, insects and mammals, and the unusual word has been drawing attention online.
