The Middle Ages in Modern Games conference is running a panel on nostalgia and presentism, one of its final sessions. The first paper, presented by Kristina Wittkamp, examines the binary of feminine hearth and masculine warrior identity in video games depicting medieval Rus. The session includes two further papers on how game designers use nostalgic versions of the medieval past for present-day concerns.
