China's Golden Week triggers massive holiday travel jams
Original: Китай встал в гигантских пробках из-за "Золотой недели" - миллионы жителей страны одновременно отправились в отпуск Толь
Millions of Chinese travellers set off at the same time for the Golden Week holidays, bringing roads and transport hubs to a standstill in giant traffic jams. In the first three days of the holiday alone, 948 million trips were made, and the total is expected to exceed 2 billion by the end of the week, overwhelming infrastructure across the country.
Why now: The sheer scale of the world's largest simultaneous holiday migration is causing dramatic congestion and travel disruption.
