Jewish leader says new gun laws 'not in our name' after Bondi
Original: Not in our name: Jewish leader’s impassioned rebuke of post-Bondi gun laws
A Jewish community leader has delivered an impassioned public rebuke of proposed post-Bondi gun law changes, arguing they are being pushed in the Jewish community's name without its backing. The intervention comes as Australia debates tightening firearm regulations following the attack at Sydney's Bondi Beach, with community figures divided over whether stricter laws reflect the community's wishes or exploit grief for political ends.
Why now: Australia is actively debating new gun laws after the Bondi attack, and a prominent community figure publicly opposing them is drawing attention.
