Russian Drone Strikes Kyiv Bridge During Merz Visit
Original: Russian Drone Hits Kyiv's Northern Bridge During German Chancellor's Visit
A Russian drone struck a bridge in northern Kyiv while German Chancellor Friedrich Merz was visiting the Ukrainian capital. The attack comes amid intensified Russian aerial assaults on Kyiv and was widely seen as a pointed signal timed to a high-profile Western leader's presence. The strike caused no reported casualties, and Merz's visit underscored continued German support for Ukraine.
Why now: The drone strike occurred at the same moment a prominent Western head of government was in the capital, making it a dramatic symbol of the war's escalation.
