Italian bishops mark feast of St Francis with vespers homily

Original: cardinaletti

The Italian Episcopal Conference published the homily by Bishop Baturi for First Vespers of the Transitus of St Francis, the observance marking the saint's death. The text draws attention around the October 3 feast, when churches across Italy and beyond commemorate Francis of Assisi, with faithful and clergy sharing reflections on his legacy of poverty, peace and care for creation.

Why now: The feast of the Transitus of St Francis on October 3 prompts annual religious observances and interest in related homilies across Catholic Italy.
