Koopmeiners tried at centre-back as Netherlands experiment raises doubts

Original: teun koopmeiners

Netherlands coach Xavi Simons' staff fielded Teun Koopmeiners at centre-back in the Nations League match against Serbia. The Juventus midfielder scored, but Italian and Dutch coverage say the experiment did not convince, with commentators arguing the role is not his long-term future despite the goal boosting his confidence.

Why now: The Dutch coach's unusual positional switch for Koopmeiners in a Nations League fixture is being debated after a mixed performance.
