Colorado urged to keep pumpkins away from bears this Halloween
Original: Keep pumpkins off the menu for Colorado bears this Halloween season
Wildlife officials in Colorado are reminding residents not to leave pumpkins outside this Halloween season, as the decorations attract hungry bears preparing for hibernation. Fallen jack-o'-lanterns and other food waste can draw bears into neighborhoods, creating dangerous conflicts. Residents are being asked to dispose of pumpkins securely and keep trash locked away until winter sets in.
Why now: Halloween is approaching and bears are actively feeding before hibernation, prompting seasonal wildlife safety warnings.
