Egypt PM reaffirms commitment to diplomacy on Nile dam dispute
Original: Egypt committed to diplomatic solution on Nile dam dispute with Ethiopia, says PM
Egypt's prime minister says his country remains committed to finding a diplomatic solution to the long-running dispute with Ethiopia over the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam on the Nile. The remarks reiterate Cairo's position in a years-long standoff over water security, as the two countries have repeatedly failed to reach a binding agreement on the dam's filling and operation.
Why now: The long-unresolved Nile dam dispute remains a source of regional tension, and any Egyptian reassurance about pursuing diplomacy draws attention.
