Original: CARAVAN HEADS TO U.S. | 600+ migrants head to U.S.-Mexico border from Honduras
A caravan of more than 600 migrants has departed Honduras and is traveling north toward the US-Mexico border. The group is the latest in a recurring pattern of migration caravans from Central America, where people cite poverty, violence and lack of opportunity as reasons for leaving. The movement comes as border policy remains a contentious issue in US politics, and officials on both sides of the border are watching its progress closely.
Why now: The departure of a new migrant caravan toward the US border is drawing attention amid ongoing debates over immigration policy.
