Original: Egypt's Sisi and Sudan's al-Burhan discuss conflict and regional diplomacy
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi met with Sudan's army chief Abdel Fattah al-Burhan for talks covering Sudan's ongoing conflict and broader regional diplomacy. The discussions come as Sudan's war between the army and the Rapid Support Forces continues to destabilise the region, with Egypt positioning itself as a key mediator and partner of Khartoum's military leadership.
Why now: Sudan's conflict remains a major regional crisis and high-level Egypt-Sudan contacts signal shifting diplomatic efforts.
