The United States has withdrawn B-1 bombers from a base in the United Kingdom amid an investigation into an alleged terror plot. The report, carried by Al Jazeera, specifies that the aircraft involved are B-1 bombers, updating earlier accounts that referred only to 'bombers' generally. The move is being closely followed given the sensitivity of the ongoing investigation and US-UK defense cooperation.
Why now: The withdrawal of strategic US bombers from UK soil, tied to a terror plot investigation, is an unusual and significant development in defense and security news.
