Ethiopia's regional rivals call for peaceful dispute solutions at Egypt summit
Original: Ethiopia’s regional rivals urge ‘peaceful’ solutions to disputes at Egypt summit
Ethiopia's regional rivals have urged peaceful solutions to ongoing disputes during a summit held in Egypt. The call reflects mounting regional tensions, particularly over issues such as the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam and Nile water sharing. Egypt has positioned itself as a key convener, bringing together countries with grievances against Addis Ababa to press for dialogue rather than confrontation.
Why now: Ongoing tensions between Ethiopia and its neighbours, especially Egypt over Nile waters, are being spotlighted at the Cairo summit
