Women alerted: free travel scheme does not cover these Tamil Nadu buses

Original: பேருந்து

Tamil Nadu's zero-ticket travel scheme for women, known as 'Vetri Paiyanam', does not apply on all bus services, and attention is being drawn to which buses are excluded. Reports note that private buses, including air-conditioned services, are outside the scheme despite assumptions that AC buses are covered. Coverage is advising women passengers to check before travelling.

Why now: Women passengers in Tamil Nadu are checking whether their bus qualifies for the state's free travel scheme.
