ABC News has published a health report examining how exposure to social media affects the mental health of transgender people, linking it to unrelenting and escalating levels of social hostility and violence directed at trans communities. Commenters online are responding with weary agreement, saying the findings are obvious and that few could be surprised that constant exposure to hostility takes a toll on wellbeing.
Why now: The ABC report confirms what trans people and advocates have long said about online hostility, prompting resigned 'we told you so' reactions.
