Tom Cruise's 'Digger' Opens Fifth at the Box Office

Original: Tom Cruise's "Digger" Finishes 5th Place Opening Weekend, Beaten by 2 Horror Films, Brad Pitt and a Dog, and Pedophile Chaser

Tom Cruise's new film 'Digger' opened in fifth place at the weekend box office, according to Showbiz411. It was outperformed by two horror films, Brad Pitt's latest release, a dog movie, and a film described as a 'pedophile chaser' thriller. The soft opening is drawing attention given Cruise's usual box office strength and the crowded competitive weekend lineup.

Why now: Cruise is a major star, so an underwhelming opening weekend against a crowded slate is surprising news.
