IDF kills suspect approaching post in Syria buffer zone
Original: IDF kills suspect approaching military post in Syria buffer zone
Israeli forces shot dead a suspect who approached a military post in the buffer zone in southern Syria, the IDF says. It is the latest incident in the area Israeli troops have patrolled since the fall of the Assad government, and comes as tensions persist along the border with repeated Israeli strikes and deployments in Syrian territory.
Why now: Ongoing Israeli military operations in the Syria buffer zone keep such cross-border incidents in the spotlight.
