IRGC adviser claims no US vessels in Persian Gulf or Hormuz
Original: No US vessels in Persian Gulf, Hormuz, or northern Indian Ocean: IRGC adviser
An adviser to Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps says there are no US vessels present in the Persian Gulf, the Strait of Hormuz, or the northern Indian Ocean. The claim, reported by Malaysian media, comes amid ongoing tensions between Tehran and Washington over naval activity in the Gulf and the strategic shipping chokepoint at Hormuz, through which much of the world's oil passes.
Why now: US-Iran naval tensions in the Gulf remain a constant source of regional and global concern, so a public claim about American naval absence draws attention.
