Otoni de Paula declares vote for Lula

Original: otoni de paula

Rio de Janeiro congressman Otoni de Paula, a former ally of Jair Bolsonaro, has announced he will vote for Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva in Brazil's presidential runoff. The pastor-politician says he will campaign to bring evangelical voters to Lula's side ahead of the second round, a notable defection from the Bolsonaro camp he previously supported.

Why now: A prominent evangelical Bolsonaro ally switching to Lula could influence religious voters in the runoff.
