Planted roof turns house into a garden in Mibu, Japan
Original: planted roof extends garden over tato architects’ timber house in mibu, japan
Tato Architects has completed a timber house in Mibu, Japan, with a fully planted roof that extends the garden over the building. The green roof blurs the line between landscape and architecture, letting the outdoor space flow across the top of the home. Architecture and design audiences are highlighting the project as a fresh example of low-rise, garden-led housing in Japan.
Why now: Design media is showcasing the project's novel fusion of green roof and living space.
