Bolsonaro wins first round of Brazil's presidential election
Original: Bolsonaro wins first round of Brazilian presidential election, as Trump-backed candidates continue red wave
Jair Bolsonaro has won the first round of Brazil's presidential election, according to Fox News reporting, in a result framed as part of a broader 'red wave' of Trump-backed candidates succeeding. The outcome advances the right-wing incumbent in his bid for re-election and has drawn international attention as another victory for Trump-aligned politicians abroad.
Why now: A Trump-aligned incumbent winning Brazil's first-round vote fits a broader pattern of right-wing election wins that people are following closely.
