Chris Minns, the Premier of New South Wales, is being accused of covering up police misconduct by halting an investigation into officers' treatment of protesters during a visit by Israeli President Isaac Herzog. Critics say more than 800 complaints were filed over the policing of the demonstration, and they accuse the premier of protecting himself and the officers involved rather than allowing scrutiny of the alleged violence.

Why now: Anger over police conduct at the Herzog protest and claims of a political cover-up are drawing fresh attention to the halted investigation.
