Perseverance rover reaches 2,000 Martian days on Mars

Original: Just about now, the Perseverance rover -- you know, Percy -- is kicking off sol 2000. Happy sol-iversary! # space

NASA's Perseverance rover has begun its 2,000th sol on Mars, marking roughly 2,000 Martian days since its landing in Jezero Crater in February 2021. A sol is about 39 minutes longer than an Earth day, so the milestone took over four Earth years. Space enthusiasts and former mission team members are marking the anniversary with congratulatory messages.

Why now: Space fans are celebrating the rover reaching a round-number milestone of 2,000 Martian days of operations.
