New research reported by the Guardian indicates that British Jews have become more likely to identify as Zionist in the period since the 7 October 2023 attacks. The findings suggest the war in Gaza and rising antisemitism have strengthened rather than weakened attachment to Israel among Jewish communities in Britain, prompting discussion about identity, security and political belonging.
Why now: It comes as the Israel-Gaza conflict continues to shape debate about Jewish identity and attitudes toward Israel in Britain.
