Labour Holborn candidate accused of JLM membership
Original: “Labour’s Holborn candidate ‘is Zionist JLM member’” by Skwawkbox with The Canary @ uk_politics @ thecanaryuk @ UKLabour
Skwawkbox reports that Sagal Abdi-Wali, Labour's candidate for Holborn and St Pancras, is described as a Zionist and a member of the Jewish Labour Movement. The claim is circulating among left-wing and pro-Palestine accounts, feeding into ongoing disputes within UK Labour over candidate selection and positions on Israel and Palestine.
Why now: Internal Labour factional disputes over candidates' Israel-Palestine positions remain highly contentious, so an allegation against a candidate in a flagship London seat draws attention.
