Israeli restrictions delay Gaza winter shelter aid by seven months
Original: Gaza: Israeli restrictions mean entry of winter shelter materials will take over seven months
The Norwegian Refugee Council says Israeli restrictions and clearance procedures mean winter shelter materials destined for Gaza would take more than seven months to enter the territory. The warning highlights how bottlenecks at crossings are preventing aid agencies from preparing displaced families for cold, wet winter conditions, with tents, tarpaulins and other shelter supplies stuck waiting for approval.
Why now: Aid agencies are warning that winter weather will hit displaced Gazans before shelter supplies can clear Israeli restrictions.
