The Japanese game Power Struggle, in which players compete to take each other's smartphone battery charge, is drawing attention. Commentators note that charging efficiency in the game is deliberately poor, turning the contest into a futile and, in the words of one write-up, 'ugly' battle over scarce power.
Why now: The absurd premise of fighting over battery charge has amused and intrigued gamers, making it a talking point on social media.
