Methane mega-leaks revealed in UN climate summit host Turkey
Original: Revealed: the methane mega-leaks from UN climate summit host Turkey
The Guardian reports that Turkey, the host of an upcoming UN climate summit, is the source of major methane leaks, uncovered through investigative reporting. The finding raises questions about the country's suitability as summit host given its apparent failure to control potent greenhouse gas emissions from its energy and infrastructure sectors.
Why now: The revelation is embarrassing for a country about to host a major UN climate conference, drawing scrutiny of its emissions record.
