'Verity' tops box office as Tom Cruise film flops
Original: 'Verity' kills, Cruise bombs in N. American movie theaters
The film adaptation 'Verity' took the top spot at the North American box office, while the latest Tom Cruise vehicle underperformed badly in its opening. Why now: The weekend's surprising box office results upended expectations, with a new release beating a major Tom Cruise film.
