Putin tells Valdai Club Russia's war aims remain maximal

Original: RE: https:// journa.host/@ScottLucas/117387 484825246228 Assessing # Putin speech to Valdai Discussion Club and what it

Vladimir Putin addressed the Valdai Discussion Club, and analysts assessing the speech say it signals no change in his objectives in the invasion of Ukraine. Commenting on the address, academic Scott Lucas argued it shows "more of the same": after four and a half years of war, Putin made clear his war aims are still the maximum, offering no indication Moscow is prepared to scale back its demands.

Why now: Putin's annual Valdai speech is being read as a signal that Russia's maximum war aims in Ukraine remain unchanged after more than four years of fighting.
