Medvedev Threatens Armenia With Ukraine's Fate
Original: Medvedev threatened Armenia with a fate similar to Ukraine's due to Yerevan's change of course
Dmitry Medvedev, deputy chairman of Russia's Security Council, warned Armenia that Yerevan's shift away from Moscow could leave it sharing Ukraine's fate. The threat comes as Armenia has been drawing closer to the West and distancing itself from its traditional alliance with Russia, prompting sharp rhetoric from senior Russian officials.
Why now: Armenia's pivot away from Russia toward the West is escalating tensions, and Medvedev's threat highlights the stakes of that geopolitical shift.
