Saxony-Anhalt CDU chief rules out AfD defectors

Original: afd - news

Saxony-Anhalt's CDU leader, Patric Schulze, says his party will not accept any members who want to defect from the AfD, stating that every decision on admissions is confirmed in writing. His remarks underline the CDU's firm stance against cooperation with or takeovers from the Alternative for Germany, as debates continue in Germany about how mainstream parties should handle the AfD.

Why now: Tensions between the CDU and the AfD over party switching and cooperation remain a live issue in German politics.
