Ally of Alcolumbre defeated despite Lula's support

Original: alcolumbre

Voting results in Brazil show an ally of Senate President Davi Alcolumbre going down to defeat, even with backing from President Lula, alongside the loss of Hugo's father in another contest. The outcome is being read as a setback for the forces that backed the losing candidates and a sign of shifting alliances in Congress.

Why now: Fresh election results in Brazil are reshaping the balance of power in Congress, with Alcolumbre's camp suffering an unexpected defeat.
