Original: NHL weekend rankings: We're back, it's too early and the Oilers are being weird https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/7661591
The Athletic has published its NHL weekend rankings as the new season gets underway, framing the exercise as far too early to draw conclusions. A focal point is the Edmonton Oilers, described as 'being weird' in their opening stretch, alongside mention of the Flyers and Mike Babcock in the piece's tags. It marks the return of the weekly ranking feature for the 2026-27 campaign.
Why now: The NHL season has just begun, prompting fans to debate early rankings and the Oilers' strange start.
