Hegseth says military flyovers at sports events will continue
Original: Secretary of War Pete Hegseth announces sports flyovers will continue ‘until morale improves’
Pete Hegseth, serving as Secretary of War, announced that military flyovers at sporting events will continue, framing them as a morale boost. The phrase 'until morale improves' echoes a well-known joke about flogging, drawing attention to the blunt way the pledge was worded and sparking debate over the Defence Department's showy presence at games.
Why now: The unusually blunt and ironic phrasing of a senior official's announcement is drawing attention and mockery.
