Russian sources have published footage said to show the interception of a Ukrainian aerostat fitted with Starlink communications and an FPV setup, reportedly carried out at an altitude of around 10 kilometres. If confirmed, the incident would point to Kyiv's expanding use of high-altitude balloons for surveillance or strike missions deep beyond the front line, using satellite internet to keep control at long range.
Why now: Ukrainian use of Starlink-linked aerostats at high altitude would mark a notable new tactic in the war, drawing attention from both sides.
